Ozempic is a weekly weight loss injection that may help reduce appetite and support long-term weight management. Available at Hayshine Pharmacy.
Ozempic is a prescription-only, once-weekly injection used to help manage weight and support healthier lifestyle changes. It contains the active ingredient semaglutide, which works by mimicking a natural hormone in the body that helps regulate blood sugar levels and control appetite
Ozempic contains semaglutide, a medication that mimics a natural hormone (GLP-1) released after eating. It works on areas of the brain that control appetite, helping to reduce hunger and increase feelings of fullness.
By slowing down how quickly food leaves your stomach and supporting blood sugar control, Ozempic can make it easier to manage cravings, eat less, and lose weight over time.
Ozempic is injected once a week, usually in the stomach, thigh or upper arm. Most people start on a lower dose to minimise side effects, with the dose gradually increased over time. Everyone responds differently, but many people see steady progress over several months.
You’ll have regular reviews with our team to monitor your progress and make sure you’re on track.
Ozempic isn’t a quick fix, it’s designed to support gradual, steady weight loss over time. Some people may begin to feel less hungry within the first couple of weeks, but noticeable weight loss often takes a bit longer, typically within 4 to 8 weeks as the body adjusts to the treatment. Because the dose is usually increased slowly, the full effects often become more noticeable after a few months. Consistency, lifestyle changes, and regular check-ins are key to getting the best results.
A Step by Step Guide
Make sure you're using the correct pen and dose. Check the expiry date and that the liquid inside is clear and colourless.
Wash your hands, then remove the pen cap. Attach a new needle by screwing it on, and remove both needle caps.
If it's your first use or a new pen, turn the dial to the starting dose and press until a drop appears at the tip to ensure the pen is working.
Turn the dose selector to the dose prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Use your stomach, thigh, or upper arm — making sure to rotate sites each time to avoid irritation.
Press the pen firmly into your skin at a 90-degree angle. Hold the dose button down until the dose counter returns to 0, then keep the pen in place for 6 seconds before removing it.
Carefully replace the outer needle cap, unscrew the needle, and dispose of it in a sharps bin or as instructed.
Put the cap back on and store your pen safely. Keep unused pens in the fridge (but don’t freeze them).
We also offer another weekly injection called Mounjaro. Like Ozempic, it’s designed to help reduce appetite and support weight loss, but it works slightly differently.
Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which targets two hormones (GLP-1 and GIP) instead of just one. This dual action may offer even stronger appetite control and weight loss results for some individuals. However, it’s a newer treatment, so it may not be suitable for everyone.
If you’re unsure which option is right for you, our team can talk you through the differences and help find the best fit based on your goals and medical history.
All weight loss treatments must be prescribed following a consultation to ensure they are safe and appropriate for you. Results can vary from person to person, and no medication guarantees weight loss. These treatments should always be used alongside a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
