The mosquitoes that transmit JE feed predominantly during the night, between dusk and dawn they are prolific in rural areas, especially where rice cultivation and pig farms are nearby, they are becoming more common in urban areas.
Here are three symptoms to help recognise the disease
The risk for short term travellers to Asia is in urban areas is lower. Risk varies on the basis of destination, duration, season and activities.
